Tony Blair, dogged by speculation about his future, has delivered an impassioned defence of his seven-year premiership after a poll showed the Iraq war and domestic strife have blighted his electoral appeal.
Launching his Labour Party's campaign for June local elections -- where Labour is braced for a trouncing -- Blair was forced on Tuesday to bat off questions about whether he plans to stand down before or after the next general election, expected in 2005.
